Skadi
Skadi (or Skade) is, in Norse mythology, a Jotun woman and goddess of hunting and skiing. Because Loki kills her father, the giant Tjatse, she chooses the æsen (god) Njord as her husband as a penance. Skadi wants to live in the mountains where she can ski and hunt, but Njord wants to live by the sea where he can fish and travel. They try to live together 9 days in the mountains and 9 days by the sea, but Skadi can't sleep with the seagulls' cries and she longs for the mountains, and Njord can't sleep with the wolf howls and longs for the sea. They decide to live separately, and Skadi goes skiing over the mountains where she hunts with a bow and arrow.
