Pattern Details:
The World Championship sweater is full of exciting details drawn from both old and more recent history. The classic eight-petal rose is centered on the front of the sweater. On the left side (from innermost to outermost), you’ll find a ship symbolizing Trondheim as a maritime city, a stylized excerpt from a stained glass window in Nidaros Cathedral, and (on sweaters in the largest sizes) a stylized version of a boat with oars seen from above. On the right side, there’s a stylized version of Trondheim’s municipal coat of arms, followed by the stained glass and boat with oars from the left side. The 2025 Trondheim World Championships focus on diversity and inclusion, and the World Championship logo is inspired by thousands of submitted children’s drawings depicting people holding hands. The motifs on the back of the sweater therefore show a boy and a girl holding hands, as well as a boy and a boy, and a girl and a girl. Additionally, the stylized versions of stained glass from Nidaros Cathedral and the boat with oars are also displayed here. On the sleeves, you’ll also find a Valknut, a symbol that was used in ancient times as protection against evil forces.
